Well, in this article I will reveal the next steps I took after the Your Baby Can Read program was conquered by me and my 20-month-old son.

When my son turned 2 years old, I started to buy any kind of educational puzzle, such as geographical, grammatical, geometric, mathematical, and any others I could find. When he turned 3 years old, I ordered flash cards to continue his development. Moreover, I hung on the wall a piece of paper with a new word, and kept it there for a week. Doing this, my son could visually remember new vocabulary. We read so many books for toddlers; moreover, I showed him how to combine several words into a sentence.

I was amazed how quickly my son learned new challenges. But at the same time, I felt like I was beginning to burn out with my ideas. I am not a genius, I am not a teacher. I—like any parent—just want my son to be successful and smart, ahead of his age.

Once, my husband and I were having dinner with our great friends. They have two adorable boys, and they pay very significant attention to education. During dinner, I was sharing my mommy life, and all the achievements we’ve done so far. At the end, I mentioned that I have no idea what to do next, and I have to figure out my son’s next challenge.

Than our friends recommended we check out the Kumon Center, which would help my son to be well prepared for kindergarten and succeed in the future. This center is great for reading and math, and it is based on the Japanese method of repetition. It has an independent program, and the teachers help the students individually.

I was intrigued and could not wait for the next day to check this place out. When we came back home, I told my 4½-year-old son about this school. He did not show me a happy face, of course. But I asked him, “Do you want to be smart? Do you want to be successful?” He was nodding happily. So I said, “Let’s go check this school out, and you can make so many friends there too!” And we did! Right now my son is 8 years old. He is still taking Kumon classes. He is pretty far ahead of his classmates academically.

There are so many great reasons why Your Baby Can Read and Kumon can help your kid to enjoy school and after school.

  1. Saving time to do homework
  2. Extra time for sports, entertainment, and other activities
  3. Stronger nervous system
  4. Academically successful
  5. Developing strong focus

We parents love our kids very much. We want them to succeed in order to be able to shape their lives and standards well. We are the important foundation and example for them. Let’s prepare and teach our kids to live their lives fully with powerful awareness.
